The problem is that you don’t just choose recovery. You have to keep choosing recovery, over and over and over again. You have to make that choice 5-6 times each day. You have to make that choice even when you really don’t want to. It’s not a single choice, and it’s not easy.

I don’t know what it says about me that I just mainlined the entire show in about six hours. I would say that I admire viscerally horrifying plot devices because I can use them as tools for my campaign, or that I appreciate depictions of intelligent disturbed villains for the same reason. Still, I find it unsettling that the show is so addictive.

Also known as “how to roll a d20 while denting the table from enthusiasm.” My last session was a bit of an emotional roller coaster, and I’m still trying to work out how to proceed in the next one this weekend. We saw the character death of a beloved PC and some really genuine grieving from the other PCs, as well as the destruction of a dream world with one NPC survivor who they had to explain how it was actually their fault that everything he knew and loved was gone. The character is barely fifteen, and reacted with rage and desperate grief, blaming the party for what happened. He may actually become a villain later, albeit with pretty legit reasons for wanting everyone dead.
All in all, very emotionally draining.
